The Law, Philosophy & Culture Initiative's "University and Culture" project seeks to provide a forum for scholars wishing to promote the University as a community dedicated to the renewal and transformation of culture, understood as shared patterns of life fostering the human good. The project aims at a revitalization of diverse components in the purpose of the University: professional preparation, personal formation and maturation of students and, more generally, of the academic community, as well as the cultivation of readiness in students and faculty for leadership roles in society. The project seeks to be an instrument for a better understanding and implementation of the University's calling as a institution of higher learning. The University today must prepare students effectively to realize their vocations in a complex and changing society. Against this backdrop, the project aspires to assist the University fulfil its role as a center of cultural renewal and transformation. The project's purpose is to provide helpful background and resources for professionals in the academic world seeking to affirm high standards for the University, and to promote communication and discussion between these professionals around the world.
This bilingual English Spanish web page provides the project's online focus. Beginning in the near future, classic texts and recent papers will be posted every month, discussion groups will be proposed in relation to readings on specific topics. Interesting links, bibliographies and current events will also eventually have their place. A calendar of meetings and conferences will be established, based on the development of the insights of the discussion groups, with the goal of convening an international symposium in three years.
